Quince Juice From a Can: Good

Available at Security Square Mall's Grand Mart in Baltimore County, this product of the Haitai Beverage Company from Seoul, South Korea is made with concentrated quince juice, citric acid, high fructose corn syrup and “quince flavor,” whatever that is. I find its taste to be quite similar to the more ubiquitous Welch’s White Grape Pear Juice, although I would favor this over the Welch’s product any day. Quince is simply more special, and the subtle difference in flavor is delightful.

This site has featured quince in the past, not for its juice, but as an ingredient in lamb stew. Check out the archives for December:

Next time that fresh quince in season, I look forward to purchasing a couple of raw ones to put through the juicer. My guess is that the juice will be cloudy, not particularly sweet, and nowhere near as satisfying as is this brand out of a can.
