About Me

Jake Slagle
I began blogging in 2005---about unusual food (Unique Culinary Adventures). Two years later, I began selling minerals on eBay. My next adventure on line was to start up the Maryland Minerals web site. Now, in the interest of a bit more focus, Mineral Bliss has replaced the culinary blog---at least for the time being. As a child, I was passionate about collecting minerals and learning about them. By adolescence, various peer pressures, sports, and girls kind of took over. It led to a 45 year hiatus. How the mineral bug returned is chronicled in the first post of Mineral Bliss. My areas of specialization are rare minerals, minerals that were collected in the state of Maryland, micromounting and photography. The Mineral Bliss blog, however, is intended to chronicle any topic that relates to the hobby of mineralogy. I am also Secretary as well a Program Director of the Baltimore Mineral Society.
